Haematexylin

H[ae]m`a*tex"y*lin\, n. [See H[ae]matoxylon.] (Chem.) The coloring principle of logwood. It is obtained as a yellow crystalline substance, C16H14O6, with a sweetish taste. Formerly called also hematin.
