Herxheimer's reaction Herx·hei·mer's reaction (hûrks'hī'mərz, hěrks'-)
An inflammatory reaction in syphilitic tissues induced in certain cases by specific treatment with salvarsan, mercury, or antibiotics. Also called Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction.
