Horner, JohannFriedrich (1831–1886), Swiss ophthalmologist. Horner published his description of Horner's syndrome in 1869. The condition had been described previously at least twice and was producedin animals as early as 1727, but Horner's description was the one that attracted attention.

Horner's syndrome n.
A syndrome caused by a lesion in the sympathetic nervous system, especially the cervical chain or central pathways, and characterized by drooping upper eyelid, pupillary contraction, absence of sweating, and receding eyeball.
