| Huron, Lake The second largest of the Great Lakes, between southeast Ontario, Canada, and eastern Michigan. Part of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway system, it is navigable for oceangoing vessels, although winter ice in the shallower sections impedes free passage. Samuel de Champlain first sighted the lake in 1615. |
