hypoxic hypoxia

hypoxic hypoxia n.
Hypoxia resulting from a defective mechanism of oxygenation in the lungs, as is caused by a low tension of oxygen, by abnormal pulmonary function, or by a right-to-left shunt in the heart. Also called anoxic anoxia.
