intermediolateral nucleus in·ter·me·di·o·lat·er·al nucleus (ĭn'tər-mē'dē-ō-lāt'ər-əl)
The cell column that forms the lateral horn of the gray matter of the spinal cord, extending from the first thoracic through the second lumbar segment, and containing the autonomic motor neurons that give rise to the preganglionic fibers of the sympathetic system.
