Ishiáhaára /E-shE-hä-rä,/ Shinobu (1879–1963), Japanese ophthalmologist. Ishiharaintroduced his test for color blindness in 1917. The test calls for the discernment of figures or patterned lines formed from colored dots placed in a field of dots of another color. Ishihara alsopublished studies of Daltonism and trachoma.
