A spokesperson for British broadcaster ITV said Clooney would appear in a sketch, but would not act in a full Christmas episode.

She told the very popular ITV morning show Daybreak in London that she was afraid to return to Italy.

"I am absolutely convinced this was an accident so I'm mystified," he told ITV news this weekend.

In the U.K., where Broadchurch originally aired on ITV in the spring, the show was a phenomenon.

When it launches in late spring, however, the iTV, as it will be called, will be a major hit.
