jaunty 
1662, "elegant, stylish," from Fr. gentil "nice, pleasing," from O.Fr. gentil "noble" (see gentle). Form reflects attempt to render Fr. pronunciation of gentil. Meaning "easy and sprightly in manner" first attested 1672.
