A conservative organization prominent in the 1950s and 1960s. The society was particularly concerned with the dangers of communism , and its views were considered extreme by most Americans.

(At the same time, CPAC also banned the John Birch Society from being a sponsor as well).

The John Birch Society was expelled, as was the gay conservative group GOProud—both deemed unfit for conservative company.

(Although to balance things out, CPAC excluded the John Birch Society as well).

Ron Paul delivered the keynote address to the John Birch Society as recently as the summer of 2009.

They surfaced again in the paranoid anti-communism of Joe McCarthy and the John Birch Society.

I personally didn't want to associate with the John Birch Society.
