Kierkegaard, Søren [(seu-ruhn keer-kuh-gahrd, keer-kuh-gawr)]

A nineteenth-century Danish philosopher. Kierkegaard wrote much about the fear and loneliness that he believed come with true religion; he is considered a forerunner of twentieth-century existentialism.
