London Stock Exchange (LSE)
- The United Kingdom's largest equity exchange, founded in 1760 by 150 brokers who were kicked out of the Royal Exchange for rowdiness. The LSE provides a market for stocks, bonds, and depositary receipts of U.K. and foreign companies. The London Stock Exchange launched an electronic trading platform, SETS (Stock Exchange Electronic Trading), in 1997 and became a publicly traded corporation in 2000.
