Macassar

A king of Macassar, tired of the idolatry of his fathers, took a notion one day to leave it.

The oil known as macassar comes from Maugkasara, the name of a district in the island of Celebes.

"There was a junk from Macassar in Bulungan harbor two weeks—no, eleven days ago," she exclaimed.

“Macassar oil” is a trade name, not geographical: see Antimacassar.

Macassar consists of the Dutch town and port, known as Vlaardingen, and the Malay town which lies inland.
