Mauámeáné /mO-m&-nA,/ Edmé Jules(1818–1891), French chemist. A professor of chemistry, Maumené wrote several general textbooks on chemistry, a number of full-length works on fermentation, wine, and winemaking, andmany essays on hydrates and manganese. In 1850 he developed a test to detect the presence of sugar in various liquids.
