Memel

The Memel is navigable in its course of 113 m. from the Russian frontier.

"Yes," said he, in as good German as might be heard anywhere between Thionville and Memel.

Three miles from Knigsberg, the road runs close to the sea, and does not leave it until you reach Memel.

For our journey to Memel, we chose the road along the shore, being twelve miles (German) shorter than that across the country.
