noun : TORUS URETERICUS Merácier /mer-syA,/ Louis–Auguste (1811–1882), French urologist. Mercier specialized in urogenital surgery and wasknown for his research in the anatomy of the bladder and urethra. In 1854 he described the transverse ridge that extends between the openings of the ureters on the inner surface of the bladder andforms the posterior boundary of the trigone; it is now sometimes called Mercier's bar.
