noun, plural myxamebas, myxamebae [mik-suh-mee-bee] .
the amebalike, usually nonflagellated, uninucleate haploid individual of a sporocarp that is released upon spore germination and feeds by engulfing bacteria and yeast: a typical stage in the life cycle of cellular slime molds.
