Nabokov, Vladimir [(nuh-baw-kuhf, nah-buh-kawf)]

A Russian-born twentieth-century American writer of poetry, short stories, and novels. His best-known work is Lolita, a satirical look at an aging professor's obsession with a twelve-year-old nymphet.

Note: A “Lolita” is a seductive adolescent girl.
