The Negev desert—Al-Naqab in Arabic—stretches across southern Israel down to Eilat and the Red Sea.

The first state-sanctioned Bedouin town in the Negev, named Tel Sheva, was established in 1968.

One of my favorite glimpses of Ariel Sharon occurred one day some years ago at a breakfast at his farm in the Negev.

Under the proposed legislation, an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 Bedouin would be displaced from their homes in the Negev.

Clearly, the situation among the Bedouin citizens in the Negev is troubling on many levels.
