Negri,
Adelchi (1876–1912), Italian physician and pathologist. Negri conducted research in histology, hematology, cytology, protozoology, and hygiene. During histological researchundertaken to clarify the etiology of rabies, he discovered in animals suffering from rabies that certain cells of the nervous system contain intracellular bodies with an internal structure so evidentand regular as to constitute a characteristic feature. He announced his discovery of the Negri bodies in 1903.
