  1. (nŏr'ĭch) A borough of eastern England northeast of London. The city was sacked by Danes in the 11th century and devastated by the Black Death in 1348. Population: 174,000.

  2. (nôr'wĭch', nŏr'-) A city of southeast Connecticut north of New London. It is an industrial center and the birthplace of Benedict Arnold. Population: 36,300.
