overanxious disorder o·ver·anx·ious disorder (ō'vər-āngk'shəs, -āng'shəs)
A generalized and persistent anxiety in children or adults that is not the result of separation or recent stress and is characterized by self-consciousness and obsessive concern over past behavior, future events, personal health, and competence in athletics, social, or academic arenas.
