parainfluenza 1 virus par·a·in·flu·en·za 1 virus (pār'ə-ĭn'flōō-ěn'zə)
A paramyxovirus that causes acute laryngotracheitis in children and, sometimes, in adults. Also called hemadsorption virus type 2.
