noun, plural (especially collectively) parrotfish (especially referring to two or more kinds or species) parrotfishes.
any of various chiefly tropical marine fishes, especially of the family Scaridae: so called because of their brilliant coloring and the shape of their jaws.
Also called pollyfish.
