Perameles

Per`a*me"les\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? a pouch + L. meles a badger.] (Zo["o]l.) Any marsupial of the genus Perameles, which includes numerous species found in Australia. They somewhat resemble rabbits in size and form. See Illust. under Bandicoot.
