phytophagous

Phytophagous, fī-tof′a-gus, adj. feeding on plants—also Phytophag′ic.

The Chrysomelid are other phytophagous insects, dressed in the brightest colours, having short and thick-set bodies.

We find that a caterpillar form is assumed by phytophagous larv amongst the Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera and Coleoptera.

This type is found in some of the phytophagous lizards, as Iguana tuberculata (Figs. 326 and 327).

This group contains the phytophagous or herbivorous cetacea.
