Pieria

Pieria's: used for Pierian, from Pierus, a mountain of Thessaly sacred to the muses.

The principal place of his residence is thought to have been in Pieria near mount Hmus.

They were likewise to be found in the countries of Edonia, Pieria, and Peonia: in one of which they founded a city and temple.

There were however some curious hymns, which used to be of old sung in Pieria, and Samothracia; and which Onomacritus copied.

The oldest seat of the worship of the Muses was Pieria in Thrace, where they were supposed to have first seen the light of day.
