rabies vaccine n.
A vaccine introduced by Pasteur as a method of treatment for the bite of a rabid animal, consisting of 23 daily injections of virus that are increased serially from noninfective doses to doses containing fully infective fixed virus.
A similar vaccine prepared from rabies virus that is grown in duck embryos and then inactivated, requiring fewer injections; it has largely replaced the vaccine introduced by Pasteur.
