city, northwestern Uttar Pradesh state, northern India. The city lies along the Kosi River, at a road and rail junction. A trade centre for grain and other agricultural products, its industry includes sugar processing, manufacturing, and cotton milling. Rampur is the site of Raza College and a state library. Pop. (1991 prelim.) 242,752.
