any of several low growing plants belonging to the genus Arabis, of the mustard family, having spikes or one-sided clusters of white, pink, or purple flowers, grown as an ornamental in rock gardens.

An interesting rock-cress is found in the Arabis Depauperata, which here shows the results of its fierce struggles for existence.

The flowers of the Hairy Rock Cress are white and very tiny.

The bright magenta-colored blossoms of the rock-cress may be looked for in early spring along the hills of the Coast Ranges.

A double daffodil looks horribly out of place, while the double white rock cress (Arabis albida) will pass.

This is a blue-flowering bulb, hardy, cheap and in flower at the same time the rock cress is.
