city, Dolnoslaskie wojewodztwo (province), southwestern Poland, on the Bystrzyca River, a tributary of the Oder River. Located in the Sudeten (Sudety) foothills, the city is an economic centre for the Lower Silesia agricultural area. It has metal, chemical, wood, sugar, and textile industries.
