archipelago, Krasnoyarsk kray (region), northern Russia. It lies in the Arctic Ocean between the Kara Sea (west) and Laptev Sea (east). Severnaya Zemlya lies immediately north of Cape Chelyuskin, the most northerly point in Siberia, from which it is separated by Vilkitsky Strait
