Southern Stars

Eve began to hate the sunshine, the brilliant, undimmed southern stars.

I looked out from my litter, and saw by the light of the southern stars the dim outlines of a large city.

For the first time the great southern stars seemed near and kindly to her and before she fell asleep again she wondered why.
