Split Close

A market closing with price discrepancies within a series of final daily futures-contract transactions.

Investopedia Commentary

During the final minutes allotted for the closing of the markets, futures contracts will typically trade within a range of prices. A split close occurs if more than two contracts with the same underlying trade at different prices.

For example, if a June pork bellies contract has a positive gain at the close while a July pork bellies contract has a negative loss, a split close occurs.
