An artery with origin in the axillary artery, with branches to the circumflex scapular and thoracodorsal arteries, with distribution to the muscles of the shoulder and scapular region, and with anastomoses to the branches of the transverse cervical, suprascapular, lateral thoracic, and intercostal arteries.
