taper pin

a short round metal rod having a small amount of taper so that when driven into a hole it tightens on the taper so that it can act as a stop or wedge

A taper pin, which is raised by the extra handle allows a very fine stream of compound to be poured.

It is composed of a central taper-pin or wedge, with two wedge-like packing pieces arranged one on each side of it.

An application of a taper pin and washer to a double eye is shown in Fig. 439.

A taper pin that is used by boiler makers to drive through holes that do not come fair, or match properly.
