Tennyson, Alfred, Lord [(ten-uh-suhn)]

A nineteenth-century English poet, very popular in his own time; he was poet laureate of Britain for over forty years. Among his works are “The Charge of the Light Brigade,” “Crossing the Bar,” and Idylls of the King (a retelling of the legend of King Arthur).
