tensor muscle of soft palate n.
A muscle with origin from the sphenoid bone and the eustachian tube, with insertion into the hard and soft palate, with nerve supply from the branches of the trigeminal nerve through the otic ganglion, and whose action tenses the soft palate and opens the eustachian tube.
