tidal pool
A pool of water remaining after a tide has retreated. The physical conditions of the tidal pool can change significantly throughout the day as the temperature of its water fluctuates with solar heating and its salinity increases with evaporation. As a result, tidal pools are harsh environments for the organisms that inhabit them. Also called tide pool.
