  1. Inflammation of the hair follicles of skin that has been shaved, usually caused by a staphylococcal infection. Also called sycosis barbae.

  2. Inflammation of the hair follicles in a shaved area of the face and neck caused by a fungus; ringworm of the beard. Also called tinea barbae.
