Trenádeálenáburg /'tren-d&-l&n-"burk,/ Friedrich (1844–1924), German surgeon. A professor of surgery, Trendelenburg was the author of numerousarticles. It was in an 1890 paper on vesicovaginal fistula that he presented the advantages of an elevated pelvic position for operations within the abdominal cavity.

A supine position with the patient inclined at an angle of 45 degrees; so that the pelvis is higher than the head, used during and after operations in the pelvis or for shock.
