tympanic artery n.

  1. An artery with origin in the maxillary artery, with distribution to the middle ear, and with anastomoses to the tympanic branches of the internal carotid and ascending pharyngeal stylomastoid arteries; anterior tympanic artery.

  2. An artery with origin in the pharyngeal artery, with distribution to the middle ear, and with anastomoses to tympanic branches of other arteries; inferior tympanic artery.

  3. An artery with origin in the stylomastoid artery, with distribution to the middle ear, and with anastomoses to the other tympanic arteries; posterior tympanic artery.

  4. An artery with origin in the middle meningeal artery, with distribution to the middle ear, and with anastomoses to the other tympanic arteries; superior tympanic artery.
