city, Kyongsang-namdo (South Kyongsang Province), southeastern South Korea. At the eastern end of T'aebaek-sanmaek (mountains), facing the Sea of Japan (East Sea), on Ulsan-man (bay), it is 45 mi (72 km) north-northeast of Pusan. It is the heart of the country's special industrial area known as the Ulsan Industrial District
