O.E. cymlic "lovely, splendid, finely made," from cyme "exquisite, glorious, delicate," from W.Gmc. *kumi- "delicate, feeble." Or perhaps the modern word is from M.E. bicumelic "suitable, exquisite," lit. "becomely."
