unripe 
O.E. unripe "premature" (in ref. to death), from un- (1) "not" + ripe. Meaning "immature, not fully developed (of fruit, etc.) is recorded from c.1250. Cf. M.Du. onrijp, O.H.G. unrifi, Ger. unreif.
