vanilla plant

noun
a composite plant, Trilisa odoratissima (or Carphephorus odoratissimus ), of the southeastern U.S., having purplish flower heads and vanilla-scented leaves used to flavor tobacco.
Also called vanilla leaf, wild vanilla.
