Velápeau /vel-pO,/ Alfred–Armand–Louis–Marie (1795–1867), French surgeon. Velpeau was theleading French surgeon in the first half of the 19th century. In 1839 he introduced a bandage designed to support the arm in dislocation or fracture of the clavicle.
