Ven`e*ra"ce*a\, n. pl. [NL. See Venus.] (Zo["o]l.) An extensive tribe of bivalve mollusks of which the genus Venus is the type. The shells are usually oval, or somewhat heartshaped, with a conspicuous lunule. See Venus.
