visceroskeleton vis·cer·o·skel·e·ton (vĭs'ə-rō-skěl'ĭ-tn)

  1. A bony formation in an organ, as in the heart, tongue, or penis.

  2. The part of the skeleton protecting the viscera, such as the rib cage and the pelvic bones. Also called splanchnoskeleton.
