War·hol  (wôr'hôl', -hōl')  American artist. A leader of the pop art movement, he produced paintings and silk-screen prints of commonplace images, such as soup cans and photographs of celebrities. |
A twentieth-century American artist whose best-known work was a precise, enlarged image of a can of Campbell's tomato soup. He also painted Coke bottles, Brillo pads, and rows of images of Marilyn Monroe. (See also pop art.)
